Program Summary: 

Communication is not just the sentences coming out of our mouth or being typed in an email or a text. Strong healthy communications include body language, tone of voice and perhaps most importantly listening skills. The words we use only make up about 7% of how we communicate to others. During this dynamic round table workshop, we will provide you with tools, tips, and a few war stories all to help you strengthen your communication skills. Skills that will help you better connect, build and grow whether you are senior level manager or looking to move into a supervisor position. We will have fun exploring strategies that work and that don’t and challenge you to find new ways to talk, share, listen and lead.

The Hershey Company will also be offering an optional tour after the meeting at 19 E. Chocolate Ave. This building has been repurposed and includes many interesting artifacts from manufacturing days as well as LEED Gold Certification. Please let us know if you would like to attend the tour by leaving a comment in the notes section on your registration. Directions will be provided at the meeting.


WE WILL BE COLLECTING DONATIONS FOR MOM'S HOUSE DURING THIS MEETING! The mission of Mom's House is to empower single parents to break the cycle of poverty through child care, support, and resources so they can continue their education. You can visit their website at to read more about the work they do. A wish list of current needs at Mom's House is provided below. Just bring the items to the chapter meeting in May and we will deliver them. Thank you!

What things do they need? Deoderant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, body wash, soap, toilet paper, wipes, diapers, moisturizer, cotton balls, Q-tips, vaseline, feminine hygiene items, skin care products, and hair care products such as mousse, styling gel, hair spray, etc.


Speaker Bios:

Alana Dunoff, FMP, IFMA Fellow​, ProFM - President, AFD Facility Planning

Alana has over 24 years’ experience as a strategic facility planner. She is ​the owner of AFD Facility Planning, a consulting firm offering strategic facility planning services that help FM’s achieve their goals. ​Alana is also an adjunct professor, she currently teaches at Temple University in their Facility Management program ​. She is also​ an IFMA Qualified Instructor for the FMP credential. Alana has lectured on numerous FM topics at colleges, universities, corporations and at IFMA World Work Place conferences ​and​ she has also been published in several FM trade journals. Alana served as a Director on the Board of Directors of IFMA​ and held various international and chapter positions.​ She is passionate about FM education and mentoring a whole new generation of FM leaders. Alana earned her B.S. in Environmental Psychology from Boston University and her M.S. in Facility Planning and Management from Cornell University.

Lesley Groff, CFM - Sr. Supervisor Buildings & Grounds , UGI Utilities, Inc.

Lesley Groff is Sr. Supervisor Buildings & Grounds at UGI Utilities, Inc. She previously worked for The Hershey Company as well as held other positions in public and private sectors as a project manager, building services manager and facility manager on both the owner and outsourced side of the industry. Lesley has served on IFMA’s International Board or Directors, president of IFMA’s Manufacturing Council and also held many positions on the chapter level including her current role as an IFMA trainer. She has presented at many local, regional and international events.
